American Idol: And The Winner Is....

Mood: Bit Sniffly
Weather: Rainy / Sunny / Rainy / Sunny

Cook. David Cook. The Rocker. Awesome. I was never a fan of American Idol until this year. I knew it existed. I almost always watched the auditions when the season started... because... come on... let's admit... those are a riot sometimes. LOL.

This is the first year, where I have faithfully turned my television to Fox 5 every Tuesday and Wednesday for the past few months (originally because Brighton was a fan ~ but now... so am I... to an extent. *wink*). Loved Carly Smithson (wish she wasn't voted off when she was ~ LOVE YOU, CARLY! LOL), hated Jason Castro (he reminded me WAY too much of that idiot with the ukulele who sang "Tiptoe Through the Tulips" back in the 70's), thought Syesha was fabulous, tolerated Archuleta (whose last name is very similar to "chuleta", which means: "a 1-pound boneless center-cut pork loin" in spanish), thought Brooke White was the living version of "Musician Dream Barbie" with new longer bolder curls, but... David Cook was my favorite (next to Carly).

I was very surprised he won, actually. Not due to any lack of talent (obviously), but the rockers usually don't win top spot on Idol. Way-to-go, Mr. Cook.

Actually, I'm kind of disappointed. I wasn't a regular watcher of AI, but I watched it enough to see that the other David should have won - man, that kid has got serious talent. He's got a Frank Sinatra/Michael Buble kind of voice, his song choices were perfect vehicles for him to showcase his voice, and the kid had damn-near-perfect pitch. David Cook missed the ball on more than one occasion, I felt, and I don't think he should have won. Winning by 12 million votes is huge; I hope the other David gets picked up by one of those top record labels, because those are the albums I'll be buying.

As for Jason Castro, yeah, he's very much like Tiny Tim (that's the dweeb with the ukelele LOL), and I'm glad he got punted.

I think I'll make a point of watching the next season (and there will be a next season) all the way through. I think it could be very interesting...

Oh... I agree that Archuleta has talent. Not in question. For a 17 year-old, the kid has more talent than many "seasoned" performers... I'm just the goth-metal-rocker type. LOL. Give me one of those "can't take home to mother bad-boys" anyday! LOL.

Still, 97.5 million overall votes is insane.
